Thanks Mark and kaye! Very glad you enjoyed them. It was great fun putting images to the poems and seeing how they were developed. I think illustrated nonsense is easier to read that nonsense all by itself. ( :

p.s.I wrote them originally for a nonsense poem collection here: http://www.protagonize.com/poem/no-sense-from-p-to-j-a-glob-of-nonsense-poems

    Thanks @room12stars and @coco!

And @Caitlinm... well, yes, it is rather odd. But I guess that's nonsense in general: "odd." I happen to be a big fan of nonsense, being prone to sing loudly in nonses when in the shower and being quite fluent in gibberish. So I like writing nonsense poetry. ( : And some folks like reading it too!

FogCat- I find people sadly lacking in the lost language of gibberish. After all, how often have you heard people say, "don't speak nonsense!" I, for one, am glad to see that you have revived the great art of nonsense. After reading your poem, I said "O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!" I also chortled in joy. [Yes, this is a reference to Lewis Carrol's "Jabberwocky" poem from "Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There." I think Carroll- who, one could argue, might be named the King of Nonsense- would be pleased with your poetry.]
    Posted 22 months ago (Permalink)
  • FogCat
    FogCat says:
@Zibbycomix Haha, yup! glad this made you happy. You know, after I wrote some of these poems, people mentioned Lewis Carroll, and I think someone even explained to me that the whole nonsense poetry thing had already been done. Probably, but just about everything worthwhile has been done more than once, don't you think?

FogCat- I agree, just because something has been done before, doesn't mean it shouldn't be done again! I think the more nonsense poetry, the better. =)

@aimen1 Well, I'm happy one of you enjoyed it. nonsense poetry probably isn't for everyone. Say 'hi' to your sister for me if you read this.

@Jordan: thanks! Strategy? Well, I think the advice nearly ever writer would give is the best advice: write lots and read lots.

I'd also recommend getting someone (like a teacher or parent) to read your writing and help you make it better. Eventually, you should read some books about how to write or take some classes (which is what I've done.)

Aww, thanks niki, and thanks so much for reading a bunch of my stories and commenting on them. It means a lot to me. As for your questions about me/my writing: Nope, I'm not published, if you don't count online and my college's literary journal as published.

As for the quality of my writing, there are a swarm of better writers than me out there, but writing only gets better by practice practice practice. Actually, you'll want to read lots, and get some good feedback on your writing from people you trust to give you honest criticism. That helps too. But lots of writing and reading are a tried and true way to become a better writer.

    So write on, my friend!
