I adopted my daughter in August. She asks me every day if I love her. I always reply, I love you very much--even when I want to roll my eyes. I wrote this story bird for her.

I was also inpired in the title of this story by e.e.cummings. He wrote a poem which I mostly forgot except for the title "i carry your heart with me". I read through the rules last night about using your own work--and I wrestled with how to approach this oversight. Clearly, e.e. cummings is the genius at work here.
