Wow, this is really good. Not how I thought it would end, and as I was reading the part where she was talking to the bear, all I could think was: this girl is so vain!!!

@1566: well, I'm old. So give yourself a few years ;)
Wow Mark. She's creepy. Nicely done :)
Eek. A bear ate a child because he wouldn't go out with a girl? I'd hate to be that girl.
Good story, though. Great ideas.
Some girls at my school act in such way. By the way, I made new storys if you wanted to see them I'm still not sure if their good though.
I feel bad for the boy, he didn't do any harm . . .
That is a great story!!! :)
I am confused but I still have a feeling that Sarah was a bit of a show off.

Hey Mark
do you make books for a living
because i love reading books no matter how small or how big also no matter the rating.
reading books is like a gift that everyone can have if they want to.
KStar
wow.....that was.....awesome. wow.
This is such a good book! Very engaging. As the reader, you can kind of relate to it - especially if you have encountered girls like Sarah. Will definitley be reading the rest of your books :)
OMG I LOVE IT SO BEAUTIFUL!
@ecca: have you listened to No Line on the Horizon? ;) Ack.
@KStar: I kind of do make books for a living. Not writing, but helping others make their own books. Glad you liked this one.

Page 13 is sublime. The words and art complement each other as two parts of a whole - Bear's far-off, contemplative gaze contrasting with Sarah's casual pose and expression. It's almost like you commissioned this piece for that moment. I love it.
And the next page pays it off perfectly.
i love this story!! i also love how the artwork compliments the story and also gives it a whole different feel!!!
it's great how even though aspects of it are abstract, you can still relate it to people you know today.
it was a amazing story which deserves praise

I'm glad this is featured. It's one of the cooler books on the site, in my opinion. ( : Sort of a funny contrast between this book and the other current feature, though. haha.

I really enjoyed your story! It was dark and rather insightful into the psychotic mindset.
Yes mark I am so sorry to bug you without reading your stories, But I have notice that the 'report a bug' blog is now GONE! I would just like to know if it is my computer or if it has been taken off the site. If it has been taken of the site I have some thing to fix storybird. (Again Iknow) I belive you should put the bolg BACK on the website. I look throught there (Dont ask me why) but the people chating with each other through well just INTERNET!, is amazing, And it Inspires me. Sorry for the lkong comment on the already fairly large comment list. (I don't like to be rude on internet sites so I like to appoligise. please exuse my spelling)
wow awesome sauce!!!!!!

Wow. That is all I can say. Wow.
Very nice. Hey i got a Q. did u invent story bird?? And i got a comment, remember you commented on a story called run about some1 who dies. Well today during class my friend went to present it and started crying in the middle, then the teacher had to read and then we all started crying and it was just crying.
But thanks for looking at her story! :)
Wow I am not too sure what I could comment?, Its a fabulous mixture of emotions but I think a jump of a fright at the end, gud stuff tho...ur a great writer thats for sure
Oooh, gruesome! Very accurate, though. Love it!
great book
Hilarious!
I like it in a strange way. It was really well written but the ending was different than I expected it to be! It was fantastic!
Awesome. One of the best juxtapositions of innocent-looking images and raw text I've ever seen. Sadly, it's an element that many books and movies lack.

can I ask some one if they have a certain game?
i dont know if that will get me banned so i want to know
Kstar
@kstar: you can, but it can't include personal details. Talking about Pokemon levels is fine, for instance. But sharing usernames from other services is not, since it can reveal your identity. Make sense?
yes it makes sense
Do u like pokemon

horse7 hearted this
wow....... he didnt deserve to die...... and sarah would not be my friend....... but it is such a good book.
N-I-C-E -W-O-R-K
@horse7: you're right. He didn't deserve to die. But that makes the tragedy—and her soullessness—even deeper.
There's a great line in the novel "The Hours" when Virginia Woolf's husband asks her why a character must die in her story. She answers "So that we all appreciate life."
Mark: The was you put it makes the story even better. I really like that. And your stories are really good.
Mark, your stories are so fantastic! I especially like this one, because when you look at the cover you think it's going to be just a little cutesy book, but it actually is a really good meaningful book
Hi its me again you didn't answer me did you start storybird and can you check out one of mine please
lizpower hearted this
and another thing what does she ten mean and how did jack die
@lizpower: yes, I'm one of the people who started Storybird.
Being a "ten" means you're very popular. It's a rating from one to ten. As for how Jack died, you'll have to re-read the story. It's in there...
oh ok well i love this story bird i put it on my reding list and can you check my books i think they are really great and why do you put @ like do you know what i mean if you don't then @lizpower why do you put @ in front
love lizpower
oh i get how jack died thanks bye
@lizpower: the "@" symbol means "at." You use it in a discussion thread to show who you're talking to. If I wanted to say something to horse7, who commented before you, I'd go @horse7 because I'm speaking at horse7 rather than you.
It's a little too creepy for me!

p.s do you like my dog its the picture his name is max
Incredible use of metaphor...what defines/guides/inspires art and life. How do you come to that metaphor anyway... feeling the sun but showing the moon...it reminds me of the Avett brothers "the sky trades the moon for the sun" in the song "left on laura, left of lisa." Fun- thanks for your creativity :)
@mrsrichison: I tend to overuse metaphors in my daily routine, so they're fairly easy for me to conjure. I had just wanted to contrast the extreme "heat" of love that she suggests Jack feels for her and the sun/moon contrast popped into my head. It worked and survived the edit ;)
Mark can you tell me if you are doing more storybrids=0 tell me look me up squigley12

i love the story, but somehow i don't get it???????
A bit disturbing. Although it makes perfect sense it just in no way humanly possible could be a real situation...
I hate the fact that "cool" people just assume they are desired, and that they are just to "cool" to hook up with anybody! That is kind like throwing off everything in a "non-popular" persons life!

That was really good. It shows how egotistical some people can be. They only think about themselves and what's best for them. I also loved the little twist at the end. Hey, they can't all be happy endings, can they? Again, great job. I'll definitely read more of your stories.

I liked it! :) Really great, at first when the bear took Jack to a near part of the woods I thought they were going to talk instead of the bear having a meal. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. Great story, wondrous job!!! ^ ^) Hmm, I wonder what happened to Molly.
@baconbaby511: Molly probably went into politics.
I read it again: What a self-centered little girl.
@bookloverjoy: I agree. But doesn't she seem like a lot of people you know? Even yourself, on some days? It's so easy for us to think we're right and make wrong decisions as a result.
I read this so much. In my head I keep making up all kinds of thing about what she will do next!
poor jack I think the bear had something to do with his death.....
Wow...creepy. But in a great way:) It's kind of mysterious, which I like. I love it!

I was beginning to have fellings for Jack.:) I bet he didn't like her. He was just aware of her vanity. And a pretty smart guy he was. That. Was. So. Sad. I really did have feelings for him. What an evil bear! And an evil girl, too. She's so full of herself. But it was really good.
That was good and sick. But yeah, you do get girls that are like that
omg this it makes me uncomfertable
1.it makes me think to much
2.killing is so evil just because he doesn't talk to her
3.what dose that person do with squids?
and 4.who kilt jack? :(
and 5. there's no cheese! :( <-- that's saddest
`
`
im so sad!
i thought the axe in the picture had something to do with jack's death i never knew the bear ate him
actually this is kinda of funny to me because even though i'm not at all "a ten" like her my neighbor has a big big big wooden bear in her yard i love that bear and ever though it never talks back i some times talk to it
