i love the the story how did you think of it
I saw the art work and I thought of how much the angel picture looked like my baby Samantha. She was born prematurely and she had the features the angel art has. (a tiny button nose, short chin, small mouth and big eyes) I thought, I have to do something to honor Samantha with this art. Even though the characters vary, it just came together so perfectly. It really captures how many changes we went through. I just tried to find the words to describe our journey in a poem. But the inspiration was from our real life baby girl, born silently in September 2008. We let balloons go on her 2nd birthday. It felt freeing somehow. I meant every word of the poem.

Its so interesting that I chose your storie first to read here on story book. My daughter, Abigail, passed away almost 7 years ago at the age of two year and 19 days old. It is so wonderful to see a bereaved mother express herself through this site in such a creative and healing way. Ironically enough, the first story I am working on is about my daughter as well. Take care you, for I know all to well, how much pain we live in everyday. We are differnt, and hopefully better.

EllaGrace- :O) Thank you for asking if I am Catholic, truthfully, I don't believe in denominations. I am a Christian, but in my opinion church is a condition of the heart, and a lifestyle lived each day. I think denomination is only a choice for what rules to follow, but (in my opinion) rules don't get us into Heaven, it just gives us a guide to follow. Its a condition of the heart and a relationship based on trust that gives us ultimate peace.

I love this story. I'm crying right now. So beautiful. My condolences about your daughter. My brother died in 2007 on his seventh birthday in a car accident. I still grieve for him as I'm sure you grieve for Samantha. Time will heal.

This is a really good poem.
One question: did you really send a balloon to Heaven?
Because it only takes half an hour for it to reach Heaven. I set off a balloon to Heaven, and it was out of sight in fifteen minutes.
The other fifteen minutes were to get through space.

This was a beautiful book. I read it to my third grade students and had them to make inferences. They were pretty good at it. My sister-in-law gave birth to a still-born baby named Benjamin, and my cousin just buried her 2 week old son last Saturday who died from meningitis.

Honestly, didnt make it through the first reading! Your words really touched me and left me in tears... it's amazing how few words can describe the pain you go through... lost my baby recently so I recognise some of those feelings :(((
We also let a heart balloon go, and although the pain will never go away, it did make a difference... Thank you.

This story makes me think of yesterday I was playing a game where the dad died and if you never get to meet your own baby it is very sad my mom had 2 miscaridgesy that hearing this story is it a true story if it is that is just very sad story I know how he/she feels it was very hard on my mom and on me she has 5 kids she would have 7 but some just meant to be.:)

At first I didn't get the story so I kept on reading it and looked for context clues. Then I found it she had grown a baby inside of her and heaven wouldn't let her go... since I read it I felt kind of sad): One more thing you wrote this story fantastic and I'm sorry if you really lost a baby. If I lost a baby I would always feel sad and I will die with her so I would not suffer. I will never forget this story(;
Gomez, this really did happen to me, not once, but three times. Samantha's life (whom the story is about) really brought beauty and healing to my life. I don't look at what I lost anymore, but what we BOTH gained in the short time our spirits mingled. Life is about living, and death is only a closed window from there to here.
I am constantly reminded of the beauty and joy her existence gives to me. And everyday I'm thankful for the breath I'm given, the living children who fill my home and heart with joy, and the God who gives me the strength, courage, and perseverance to walk through the hard times in life. Death is a part of life, but death is not the end, not for her, not for me.

That happened to my great aunt. Though he did not die through birth. my great aunt was at work while the nanny was watching the child. Shewent to fold clothes, when he got into the swimming pool. Shortly after, he drowned. The nanny had not realized it until it was too late. that was his last day of life.
So touching and sad. I loved it!
