I have heard so many things.
I’ve heard the cry of soaring ravens,
I’ve heard a small, red robin sing.
I have seen so many sights.
I’ve seen the terror and the pain,
But in the darkness, I’ve seen light.
I have seen both hope and pain,
I have heard the cries of a starving girl,
I’ve seen a wealthy woman and her vain.
I have seen the endless strife.
And yet there are many who won’t admit,
Humanity brought down the knife.
And I have had to endure,
The agony the world is going through,
The pain that we ignore.
I’ve heard people talk of peace.
I’ve heard them talk of harmony,
They say all terror has ceased.
And in the silence of the night,
I hear the pain and the terror thrive,
The ache of endless fright.
But I still don’t understand,
Why peace is so long forgotten,
Like an insignificant grain of sand.
