Feature ideas (things that you'd like)

what is a feature
Features are things you'd like to see added to Storybird, or ways to make things better. For instance, "add a reading list that we can share with other people" is a feature. So is "add more artists" or "include the Facebook Like button on all stories."
Whenever you have an idea that you think might make Storybird better, tell us here. We can't promise we'll use it, but we'll certainly think about it :)
Have you ever considered supplying some teacher usage ideas -- like lesson plans. I am SO excited to use this with my students!
@mgeislinger We plan, later in the year, to build the next phase of the education part of Storybird. A school "hemisphere:" Lesson plans, school collaborations, teacher resources—they'll all be part of it. For now, though, you can just Google "Storybird lesson plans." Dozens of teachers have blogged about them.
I wish there was an easier way to sort through the art work while making a story! Maybe, categories!
we sould have private blogs that you can invite people into with thier usernames
and a blog for each author where they can have people comment on whatevert hey want! :)
@fallgirl: you mean, while you're inside Storymaker? Presumably because some artists have big portfolios and so the sideboard is choked with images? If "yes," then we're working on some ideas. If "no," what do you mean?
@niki2i514: a few things:
-we'll be adding a thread (like this one) to all author pages so fans or friends of a writer can do shoutouts, ask questions, etc.
-blogs for writers? maybe.
-private blogs/chat threads: tricky due to safety. That's why we force you to know the person in advance.
Mark, we are excited about using your site with our 2nd graders this week. In my trial run with a group of students they kept wanting to be able to look through different pictures once they had begun the story. Is there anyway to add or change the images that are in your sideboard once you start working on a story? Thanks for the awesome, fun site!
yeah, thats what i was thinking of too. the way i was thinking of it would be you ask them to join your page and they have to answer yes or no. Also, i noticed my brother is getting messages but i am not, why do you think this is?
What a wonderful site! Is their a way to upload students art work? I have tons of ideas for school. Thanks!
Yes. Thank you!
Also, I wish we could read other peoples reading list, you know kinda of like a recommendation list!
@dcampbe3: no, but we're looking at "search inside Storymaker" later this year. Stay tuned.
@dsl: not yet, but personal uploads, along with "search inside Storymaker," is coming later this year.
@fallgirl: we're working on sharable reading lists right now, actually. Should be ready in a month or two.
Yaaaaay!!!
that is a great idea
@6MEH: we'll be releasing "personal uploads" later this year. That should solve your problem. Stay tuned.
Hey mark,I was just wondering if you could put some more art on here?
I think I have recruited another person for Storybird!! I think she plans to make an account sometime soon!!
Yay!! She has officially made an account!! she is Arrowwolf!!!
cool!
@fallgirl: later this year we plan to release a feature that lets you invite your friends and make private groups with them.
Well, I feel like you guys are getting really strict about what we put in our stories and it is frustrating when I have to go in and completely alter a really good story so it can be in the public library!! I really hope that you guys make a story bird for teens!!
@fallgirl: we ARE strict. But you have to be strict when you're dealing with kids, particularly young ones who are impressionable. Not everyone is as smart as you ;) And a teen version—absolutely. It'll happen.
How about a way to rename classes and move students between classes?
@chargetech: nice one. Added to our roadmap.
Well, I do understand but one of my friends who helped me on a recent story said in it that our parents had been killed by a wizard!! I know it has to do with killing but it is not true and there are no such things as wizards! It was not excepted into the public library. Yet, I wrote another story, I wrote about a mom dying from cancer but that story was excepted into the public library! I think those two stories are pretty much the same in maturity so if the one excepted was ok why wasn't the other one?
Just curious..
Oh and I am glad there will be a storybird for teens!!
@fallgirl: different moderators take a different approach with their reasons to return a book to the author. Sometimes it's context: for instance, a mom dying is sad, but not violent. A wizard killing someone, on the other hand, is simply violent. And sometimes it's chance: one moderator's viewpoint vs another one's. Eventually, though, it gets worked out.
We're thinking of calling the teen site "Blackbird."
i have a perfect idea! when i decide 2 use a piece of ART throughout a piece
it al ways gets lost !!! so how bout coloms like "often used"
Sweet! Blackbird, hmm I like that!
I wish you could use any pics you want instead of the ones it gives you
