The Mirror
It all happened a week today. I can still hear the high pitched scream over and over and see the look on the little girls face as I peered in the mirror...
Searching for a new home, I thought I had found the perfect one. I entered the front garden through the high rusted gates; I slowly pushed it open and stepped inside.
Looking at the secluded, mysterious building that someone has once called a home, I noticed ebony coloured birds berthed on the high pitched roof top; my gaze was captured. This house was like no other. I was drawn towards the solid wooden door. My grip tightened as I tried to enter. Finally my efforts paid off, the door sprung open allowing me to inspect inside. I stepped into darkness; the only light coming from the open front door.
A loud noise echoed across the room as the door slammed shut. I turned around and ran to the door. I pulled it as hard as I could but the door was shut tight. I turned around and waited for my eyes to become accustomed to the darkness. Looking around I could see no other way out only a metal staircase leading up to a corridor. I started to walk towards the stairs when i heard a high pitched scream, I turned around, I couldn’t see anything so I carried on walking, thinking it was my imagination. I reached the top of the stairs and was suddenly drawn to a clean white door; it was so bright through the darkness. I walked down the corridor, on the walls were old photographs that had been torn and ruined. I continued walking when i heard that same scream from before. I turned around as quickly as possible and still nothing was there. I was finally at the door; it looked so out of place in the old, ruined house. I grabbed the handle of the door and stepped inside.
Running my fingers across the damp, cold wall, in search of a light switch, once again I heard the scream. This time instead of coming from behind me it seemed to be in front of me. I squinted my eyes trying to get used to the darkness, as my eye grew accustomed i looked around the room, it was totally bare apart from a full length mirror in the corner of the room. As I walked closer to it it seemed like an ordinary mirror, but I was wrong. As I looked i saw the most horrific sight I’d ever seen in my life. My mouth dropped. I now knew where the screaming was coming from; it was the mirror, the little girl in the mirror.
The little girl had her back to me; her hairy was a lovely golden blonde colour that reacher down to her waist. She had a little dress on which was stripped with different colours. She was sitting there with her head in her hands screaming. I slowly stood up and started to walk over to the mirror and asked her what was wrong, she moved her hands away from her face, I screamed and jumped back while falling to the floor. The innocent looking child had no eyes, just sunken black holes of nothingness, like a skeleton, but the rest of her was still human looking. I shuddered as I tried to stand ready to run through the door. When i reached my feet she spoke.
“Don’t go, please stay, help me.”
“What do you want?” I hear my own shaky voice say.
“Come closer,” the voice from the mirror said.
I nervously stepped closer; her hand shot out of the mirror so quickly it was a blur, i had no time to react. The cold, clammy hand grabbed my wrist and pulled me into the mirror. I tried to scream but there was nothing but silence. I twisted and turned trying to release the tight grip, but the girls small, boney fingers just dug in tighter. It must have happened so quickly but to me it felt like an age being dragged into a place I didn’t want to go. The last thing I remember before i blacked out was that little girls face getting closer and closer, those dark black holes right in front of my face.

It’s hard to believe, I know that my story is just that of a story, but if your ever passing come in and see me and I will tell you my tale. I’m still at the local hospital. You won’t be able to miss me, I will be the one sitting in front of the mirror, but please dont stare as I turn to look at you and you see my dark, black sunken holes a where my eyes should be.
