Good or baD? You choose
Beep. Beep. Beep. My hand tried to find the snooze bar. It couldn’t. I decided I would just have to get up, so I did. My stomach felt strange, so I sat back down on my bed. I stood up again, and looked in the mirror. Oh my gosh! I had put on so much weight! I stared at myself in the mirror, thinking back to what I had done the past week, what I had eaten. Surely I couldn’t be too fat yet. I was only 19 years old! My brain started connecting the dots. My face went from wonder to horror. Oh no. No no. Anything but that. Anything. I screamed. Loudly. My mum ran up the stairs. She looked at my face, then my stomach. She seemed to understand immediately. I started crying. As I cried and cried and cried, my mother rocked me in her arms, but there was nothing she could do.
My mum finally convinced me to get in the car to go to the doctors. It was hard with my belly. She said it would be alright, it might just be bloating or some other explanation. When we got to the doctors, he looked at me and my big belly and said “Lie down”. I lay down on the bed hoping and wishing. He looked at me sadly. “This may be hard for you to hear, but you are pregnant”.
I was in shock. “How far along?” My mother asked. “Four or five months” the doctor answered. One word kept going along in my mind. Pregnant. Pregnant. Pregnant. Pregnant. I was pregnant.
