“she will always be with me.”
Catching Fireflies
I wiped a tear off my face. I was dressed in all black. I let my hair fall on my sagging shoulders. I couldn’t believe what had happened in the past week.
We were chasing each other down a hill on Wednesday after school. The loser had to give the winner a dollar. Her short black hair and my long black hair flowed gracefully in the evening wind.
We were running.
We looked at each other…
I heard an ear piercing scream.
She tumbled down the hill.
She tumbled.
And tumbled.
And hit her head on a rock.
Blood burst everywhere.
I couldn’t do anything.
I was too late.
She was gone.
My twin sister was gone.
And she’s never come back.
