Graphic Novel Writer

Overview

Graphic Novels

Excited by the idea putting words and pictures together on a page? In this course, you’ll learn how to make graphic novels with Pashmina author-illustrator and Storybird artist Nidhi Chanani.

Enter the world of graphic novels with Nidhi Chanani, author, illustrator, Storybird artist, and lecturer in the MFA Comics program at California College of the Arts.

In 2017, Nidhi published her debut graphic novel Pashmina, the story of a young girl growing up in an Indian-American community and the challenges she faces along the way.

Graphic Novels bring together the power of fictional words and the beauty of visual art to create a story that is bigger than text and images alone. A great graphic novel can transport your mind and body into the world of its characters.

The best part of comics? You don’t need to be an artist to make one! In this course, you'll learn prewriting strategies to help you plan your story, get tips on developing characters and writing dialogue, and find out what it takes to get your graphic novel published.

If you love comics or if you’re a writer and/or artist with a flair for visual storytelling, give this course a try and see where your imagination takes you!
